University-related Projects
University-related projects with which our working groups are currently engaged. The groups are formed from university personnel across the globe who represent many different types of university and Esperanto organisations.
Discussion groups, strategy and planning
Regular fortnightly meetings bringing together university people from the world over to discuss projects and activities, including strategy and planning. The sessions, organised by Ahmad Mamdoohi, are recorded, and available to view.
A second working group, which includes university representatives from Esperantic Studies Foundation (ESF), the International League of Esperanto Instructors (ILEI), the World Esperanto Association (UEA), and the World Esperanto Youth Organisation (TEJO), meets on an ad hoc basis to develop, support, advise and help guide concrete projects from ideas discussed during the various discussion forums.
Ongoing projects
We are working to:
- extend the University Network and make it more publicly visible and available by producing one-page summaries of academic research and very short films of university personnel speaking about their work and teaching. If you would like to contribute and submit summaries and/or a film, please contact Angela Tellier: esfacademic(at)esperantic.org
- establish and extend the current international network of researchers – Internacia Reto de Universitatoj (IRU) – under the guidance of Vicente Manzano-Arrondo. If you are interested in joining the work, please write to iru(at)esperantujo.io
- extend and complete lists of university personnel occupied with priority areas under the guidance of Renato Corsetti and Katalin Kovats. Anyone teaching a course or module is kindly asked to register details.
Financial support
The Interlinguistics Support Fund (ISF) is administered by an international panel under the auspices of the Centre for Research and Documentation on World Language Problems. It awards small grants, normally less than $2000, to assist scholars and advanced students in conducting research in the fields of language planning, interlinguistics, transnational language policy, linguistic justice, and planned languages (including Esperanto). The grants may cover the purchase of, or access to, research materials, attendance at conferences, travel to research libraries, fieldwork support, website development, publication costs, etc. ISF grants are awarded on a competitive basis and must normally be used within a year of the award. Esperantic Studies Foundation runs a larger General Support Fund (GSF) which covers all three of its priorities: Research, Education, and Conservation. It is open to individuals and organisations, including universities. Submission guidance and deadlines
